Hiking Is Good For You!

It has been sooo long since we have been on a hike, that I finally drug the whole family out for a hike on the Biology trail after Sabbath lunch today. Tom and I used to go hiking sometimes here, but it has changed a lot over the past couple of years, so we stopped to look at the information board. I guess they are learning a lot about how to make good hiking trails.
Southern has even designated the types of paths with descriptions of what to expect on the trail and how long each trail is. We didn't have that 10 years ago! (Can't believe it's been 10 years!)
Then while we were looking at the signs for the trail, Becky noticed this sign. She is learning to read, so LOVES to look at signs. She informed us that this sign says: "No tractors, No Bikes, No Horses, and NO TRAINS!" Tom and I had a good laugh about that one! :)
Then we grabbed a new map and headed off on the trail.

So excited about hiking with a map!
One of the water crossings that Nikki had fun navigating. She did pretty good and only got a little wet.
Whew! Nikki made it without falling in!
Fungus that looks like a flower.
After hiking for a while, we came to a crossroad where 8 trails met up. It was a little crazy trying to figure out which trail we needed to take. Everyone found a different one that looked interesting.
But Tommy had the map, so he headed us in the right direction!
When we finished, the kids begged to come back again sometime soon. I'm looking forward to our next visit too!
