More Roof Raising Fun

It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood. :) We took advantage of it and went looking around the house.
It's fun seeing the walls up - and now that we are onto the second floor - we can finally see Grandma & Grandpa's house.
We got to thinking about the dormer windows in the girls room and realized that one window won't give much light, so we asked Dan & Darryl to add another dormer on the opposite side of the room.
After lunch we went back out to see how things were looking.
The garage & girl's room is finished now.
The garage & attic.
Our dormer on the back side of the house. :) So cute.
Here's the view it will have.
Darryl is almost finished nailing down the rafters for the attic/girls room.
The entire back side of our house.
Peter and Dan getting ready to build rafters for over the homeschool room.
I was curious how the beam for the rafter gets installed, so I stuck around to watch them put it up. It did not look like an easy task.
First they push the rafters together with a board in between and nail boards to the rafters to hold them in place. Then they remove the place-holder board and lift in the beam. Finally they nail in the beam and repeat the same process on the opposite side.

Doesn't it look nice?
While the builders worked on putting up the roof above the homeschool room, Clint & Kyle put in part of the road beside our house.

Kyle took care of moving dirt from the spare piles of scrap dirt originally intended for the garage to the road Clint was building with his dozer. Then the kids and I went exploring along our new road. It's not finished, but it's looking good!

It will still be a few weeks before the roads join together, but it should be nice when they finally do.

A couple hours later, all the rafters were up and we have another roof! :)

The holes have also been placed for the footers for our porch. The patio should be poured on Monday, so it will be fun to see what it looks like finished.

The kids had fun exploring everything. Tommy checked out the garage...
...and Becky checked out her balancing skills.
Our great room.
Tomorrow is supposed to rain, so there probably won't be much happening until next week. The house is popping up quickly though!
